Playground for the rich and surly.

I was far too poor to actually eat in Monte Carlo.

In fact, I was probably too poor to go to the toilet there as well.

Gambling and the Grand prix are the two things Monte Carlo is the most famous for.

High prices and surly waiters are the two things that stick in my mind.

Now, most people would think that $9 US is a pretty steep price for a 200ml Stella Artois beer, but they wouldn’t be reckoning on the quality of the service from the French waiter we had.

He walked in, sneered at us, plonked the beer on the table and didn’t say a word until he returned with our bill….

which included a 15% service charge.

This is as close as poor people are allowed to approach.
Monaco has so much money they had their streets designed by M.C. Escher

Hah! A big fat 0 here.

0.15 Probably the most expensive beer I’ve ever drunk, and it was a 200ml bottle of Stella Artois.
