A great place to sit back, relax and enjoy a tropical disease.

Fruit juice drinks.

So cheap, and so good for the stomach of a man on his way back from India.

Good in the hotels. I was too scared to try the public ones out.

Unfortunately, Thailand has developed a bit of a reputation lately as a place where people go to have sex. While there are, of course, elements of truth to this, it is wholly exaggerated. I can safely say this because I didn’t get any.

Of course, underneath the sex and sleaze there is a whole culture waiting to be discovered, or perhaps, saved.

Bangkok’s most famous monument is the golden temple. Let’s be honest, the Thai people really love gold. Golden pavilions, golden palaces, golden temples, golden brown, you can find it all in Thailand.

Travelers are abundant in Bangkok, although many don’t seem to travel very far. If you are planning on staying in a hostel, please be aware that each morning you may have to pick your way through hippy communes camped in the hostel’s common room. If you would like to join them, please be aware that the have a strict “shirt and shoes” rule; neither are allowed.

Once out on the smaller islands you can relax, free of the drugs and sex that make Thailand actually interesting. There’s not much to do, except lie back and read a poorly photocopied book, or enjoy a slippery oil massage.

As always in Thailand however, great care should be made that you are paying for a massage, and not a “massage”.

Taking a bus to Koh Samet island, we were joined by two German guys and their “girlfriends”.

However, halfway through the journey, one of the “girlfriends” complained about the guy she was with and they were forced to swap.

In this cynical day and age, it’s nice to know love is just a credit card away.

If you look really closely, you can see his underpants
Did I mention that the Thais like gold?

7 Quite high. The number that is, not the dogs themselves.

3.2 Good stuff too.
